100 years of family dedication

Txepetxa anchovy pintxos are part of Donostia's cultural heritage

My grandmother worker in fishing nets in Zarautz 100 years ago. The marinade recipes that were in Zumaia and Getaria were the base and then my grandfather began to work on them in the San Sebastián winery.

Then my father arrived, who was, like my mother, an exceptional chef. And he became obsessed with getting the perfect marinade. He spent 40 years doing tests until he managed to make people, when trying anchovies, make their eyes widen. Those were times when the Old Town and its pintxos had already acquired international fame and that is when Bar Txepetxa became the only bar in all of San Sebastián to win first, second and third prize in the pintxo contest.

To date we have been recognized in countries around the world appearing in the press, television channels and prestigious travel and gastronomy magazines and social media channels. All these recognitions and awards are dedicated to 100 years of affection and family work.

First, second and third prize in the first skewer contest in San Sebastián. Since then, the rules have changed, bars can only present one skewer per contest.
